Project Follow
The Project Follow button allows community users to easily keep track of their favorite projects and receive updates whenever new progress is made.
The Follow button, located at the page banner and embeddable as a tool on your page, is a feature that allows community members to click and subscribe to the project's updates.
The purpose of this feature is to make it easy for community users to stay up to date with your projects. By clicking on the follow button users will receive notification or updates whenever there's a news page or event page is published for that specific project.
Project follow is set at a project-level, meaning all subpages will inherit the same project follow settings as the parent project they are associated with. You can embed the Project Follow Button on a subpage as well.
New! Project Follow Button Tool: Now you can embed a button anywhere on your project page or subpage to further highlight the follow option to users. Check out the details on this new tool.
Example
Here is an example of a page that has 'Project Follow' enabled.

There are two ways to enable project follow:
- When creating a new project, the site administrators can enable project follow under the "Details" section of the set up wizard.
2. At the toolbar of your project page, go to Settings > Details - Project Page > Look for 'Project Follow' and click the checkbox to enable/disable.

🆕Project Follow Button Tool
Now you can add a Follow/Unfollow button anywhere on a project or subpage! Previously restricted to the fixed project banner at the top of a page, this tool can now be positioned strategically to increase visibility and encourage more users to stay engaged with your project over time.
The new Follow Button Tool maintains the same functionality as before, just with more flexibility. The button will still appear on the banner, but now you can add an additional Follow Button wherever else you would like it on your page.
How to add the Follow Button
- Open the page builder on any project page or subpage.
- Locate or search for the new Follow Tool in the toolbox.
- Drag and drop the button to your desired section.
- The button displays its current state: Following or Follow.
- Clicking the button triggers the same follow/unfollow logic as the banner version.
Behavior on Subpages
- When a user clicks the Follow button on a subpage, they will also follow the parent project, not just the subpage.
- Both the project banner Follow button and the Follow Button Tool can be visible at the same time.
Key Notes
- The Follow Button Tool is only available if the project's follow functionality is enabled.
- If follow functionality is not enabled for a project, you will see an error message instead of the button.
- If the Follow Button Tool has been added to a page but then the follow functionality is later disabled, the button will be hidden from users. You will see an error message in editing mode.
